Roll-off cans, priced by what you put in them.
Six streams, six gate rates, one published threshold each. Cross it and the whole can goes on the mixed rate.

One clean concrete can, loaded badly
Specification is 10.0% off-stream by weight. Cross it and the whole can is re-graded, not just the offending part.
- Broken slab and kerb, nothing else 0.0% off spec
- Half a pallet of blockwork 0.0% off spec
- The subsoil that came up under the slab 3.8% off spec
- Fence posts and the shuttering ply 6.7% off spec
- The hedge that was in the way 8.9% off spec
- A skip bag of packaging 10.2% off spec Re-graded. The whole can goes on the mixed rate.
- A mattress out of the back bedroom 10.7% off spec
- The rest of the strip-out 31.9% off spec
Why purity prices the can
A loaded can reads as one colour from the street, because the eye averages a mosaic. Clean concrete reads as one grey. A mixed can reads as mud.
The gate charges the same way. Past the published threshold there is nothing left worth separating, so the whole can is re-graded to £186.00.
The rate card, cheapest clean rate first
Clean concrete & inert
Broken slab, kerb, block, brick, clean subbase.
£9.50 per tonne, clean
Specification 10.0% off-stream · past it, £186.00
What takes this can off the clean rate
- Any plasterboard at all — sulphate contaminates the crusher feed.
- Reinforcement longer than 300 mm still cast into the lump.
- Painted or rendered faces on more than a tenth of the load.
Soil & hardcore
Dig arisings, clean subsoil, stone-and-clay mix.
£14.00 per tonne, clean
Specification 12.0% off-stream · past it, £186.00
What takes this can off the clean rate
- Japanese knotweed, or anything from within 7 m of a stand.
- Made ground with no WAC test on the ticket.
- Root ball and green waste mixed through the dig.
Green waste
Hedge cuttings, turf, prunings, felled softwood under 150 mm.
£41.00 per tonne, clean
Specification 8.0% off-stream · past it, £186.00
What takes this can off the clean rate
- Treated or painted timber thrown in with the prunings.
- Soil past a tenth of the load — it kills the windrow temperature.
- Plastic pots, membrane, or the bags the cuttings arrived in.
Timber
Clean softwood, pallets, stud, sheet ply and OSB.
£68.00 per tonne, clean
Specification 10.0% off-stream · past it, £186.00
What takes this can off the clean rate
- Sleepers, decking or fencing treated with creosote or CCA.
- Laminate and MDF past a tenth of the load.
- Nails are fine. Hinges, brackets and locks are not.
Metal
Ferrous offcut, section, rebar, sheet, tank and radiator.
£92.00 per tonne, clean
Specification 15.0% off-stream · past it, £186.00
What takes this can off the clean rate
- Sealed vessels of any size, gas bottles, aerosols.
- Fridges, freezers and anything else carrying refrigerant gas.
- Cable with the insulation still on past a fifth of the load.
Cardboard & paper
Flat OCC, packaging, clean office paper.
£108.00 per tonne, clean
Specification 5.0% off-stream · past it, £186.00
What takes this can off the clean rate
- Wet cardboard — it is weighed wet and paid dry.
- Waxed or foil-lined board.
- Food residue, which is most of what comes off a fit-out.
Mixed C&D
Everything else, and everything that failed a spec above.
£186.00 per tonne
There is no purity specification, so there is nothing to contaminate. Picked on the line for what can be pulled, residue to energy recovery.
One mixed C&D can, loaded exactly as badly
Mixed C&D has no purity specification, so there is nothing here for an item to break.
- A strip-out, off the floor no spec
- The subsoil from the same site no spec
- Fence posts and shuttering ply no spec
- The hedge that was in the way no spec
- One skip bag of packaging no spec

How it works
- Tell us the stream and the size. If you do not know the stream, describe the job.
- We drop. A hook loader needs the run-off clear; a maxi skip does not.
- You load. Keep the stream clean and the rate holds.
- We weigh at the gate, and the ticket is the invoice.
